About Jared
About Jared
Rodeo Boots. Community Roots.
Hi, I’m Jared Gray, and I’ve proudly called Eagle Mountain home since the beginning. In fact, long before Eagle Mountain was established, I worked the fields that now make up the Ranches and City Center areas. In the late 1980s and through the 1990s, I worked with Cedar Valley Farms, farming the ground that Eagle Mountain now stands on.
In 1998 I married my wife, Heidi, who was also living in the Eagle Mountain area. Together, we’ve been part of this community’s history from the early days. In fact, we live in one of the first homes ever built here—a home I purchased from my in-laws.
I’m a father, a business owner, a builder, a former rodeo competitor, and a neighbor who believes in hard work and community. I’ve helped construct our roads, support our local economy, and serve on the city council, because I care deeply about the people who live here.
Whether it’s tackling traffic, managing growth responsibly, or finally getting that rec center built, I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and lead with grit, common sense, and heart.
For me, this race isn’t about politics or photo ops. It’s about doing the work, because I care about this community.

Saddled Up to Fix What Matters.
These aren’t just campaign promises. These are the problems I’ve already started solving.
These aren’t just campaign promises. These are the problems I’ve already started solving.

Infrastructure & Roads
I’ve built roads. I know what it takes. With more than 25 years of experience working in road construction, I’ve helped push critical projects like the Airport Road and Mid Valley Road across the finish line. I also worked to rewrite our street standards so roads last longer and cost less over time. I don’t just talk about infrastructure. I help get it done, from planning to pavement.
Smart Growth & Development
Growth is good, but only if we're ready for it. I’ve been one of the few pushing back against unchecked development that strains our roads, schools, and water supply. I helped rewrite our zoning code to encourage smart growth that protects our future. I believe growth should work for the people, not the other way around.
Parks, Trails & Public Spaces
I’ll ride the mower if I have to. Last year, I spent time on the ground with our Parks team to see issues firsthand. I advocated for more staff, and I’ll keep pushing for that until our parks get the attention they deserve. If it comes down to it, I’ll grab a weed sprayer and get to work myself. That’s the kind of hands-on leadership I believe in.
Rec Center & Public Amenities
I want to do this the right way. I used to be against building a rec center because I didn’t want to place an added burden on taxpayers. But, with our recent economic growth, I believe we can make it happen without raising taxes. After we’ve addressed other critical needs like fixing our roads, sewer, and city hall, it’ll be time to (finally) get this built!
Water & Utilities
You can’t fake preparedness. We all know that water is limited, and growth brings real pressure. That’s why I supported ending outside water sales and improving how we manage this vital resource. I’ve also championed smart energy solutions like natural gas and solar to ensure that Eagle Mountain stays powered and resilient as we grow.
Regional Leadership
I will make sure Eagle Mountain has a seat at the table. When other cities meet to discuss roads and growth, I want to guarantee that Eagle Mountain is part of the conversation, even when I have to fight to be heard. I’ve built strong relationships with city and state leaders because real collaboration delivers real results.

"Eagle Mountain has been better with you serving on the council and many boards... You have the confidence of the majority of our staff, myself, the other council members, your community, your neighbors, and your friends."
Rich Wood
"Heck yes!!! Glad to see [Jared] stepping into this phase of leadership. It's been a true honor and pleasure to see where [his] heart is for the community and to be able to work alongside [him] on big projects."

Brant Burnham
"Jared will make an excellent mayor! He doesn't promise the world, doesn’t give himself more credit than he should, doesn’t do things for the spotlight, and doesn’t give lip service or say what he thinks the citizens want to hear. He just quietly gets things done… His humility, consistency, and action are precisely why Jared is the perfect person to lead our city."
Melanie Castillo
"Jared is the best candidate. Most candidates over-promise and under-deliver, while l've found Jared is upfront and has a much more realistic approach. I'm truly worried other candidates will use the community’s current emotions on sensitive topics, like traffic or building a rec center, and promise solutions that are impossible just to sway votes."
Carson Riley
"Eagle Mountain would be blessed to have you as their Mayor. Your honesty, integrity and hard working spirit is what people want in a leader. Your love for Eagle Mountain shines through the work you do for your community. You will continue making Eagle Mountain a great place to live!!"
Cindy Eller Mueller-Brown
"The obvious candidate. With diligence, determination, friendliness and integrity that is how Jared always gets the job done. And he’s been doing it for many years now with an upbeat and cheerful attitude working his way up from volunteer citizen and that is someone I will always support. Always in the service of others. “By their fruits ye shall know them.”

What’s your stance on building a rec center?
I used to be against it. But times have changed. Thanks to recent growth, I believe we can build a rec center without raising your taxes. As long as we tackle the city’s biggest needs first (like fixing our roads and sewer), I’m ready to make it happen.
How will you fix the traffic in Eagle Mountain?
To me, building better roads isn’t just a theory. It’s what I’ve done professionally, for decades. I’ve worked in road construction, helped rewrite our street standards, pushed Mid Valley Road forward, and secured funding to get Airport Road across the finish line. I’ll keep fighting for wider, more efficient roads that are built to last.
What makes you different from other candidates?
I don’t wait for people to bring ideas to me. I bring the ideas, push them forward, and get results. Whether it’s rewriting city code, leading regional conversations, or showing up with a weed sprayer to support our parks team, I lead with action, not talk.
How do you plan to manage Eagle Mountain’s rapid growth?
One of the things I’m most proud of is the work I’ve already done to manage Eagle Mountain’s growth. While serving on the Planning Commission, we often heard that "our hands are tied"—that we had to approve developments simply because they met the existing code. That didn’t sit right with me. So, along with Rich Wood and Brett Wright, I helped lead the effort to completely rewrite our zoning code. The new code fundamentally changed the way our city was developed. At the time, we had a tiered system: Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3, which allowed for a wide range of density and inconsistency in homebuilding. Today, we have a more prescriptive system for residential and commercial zones, giving us far greater control over how and where growth happens. With the new zoning code, our new buildout projections are for 125,000 to 150,000 residents. I will continue working to ensure we grow responsibly and protect the future of our city.
How can I get involved or meet you?
I’d love to come out to your neighborhood, organize an event, or sit down with you one-on-one. Just shoot me a message on Facebook or reach out at (801) 420-6718 and I’ll make it happen. I’m not running for a title. I’m running to serve.
